I also read the same dear friend story featuring Cher Ami. I wonder if she used the wooden leg the soldiers brought for her? How long to pigeons usually live? It said she died a year later from her wounds, I hope she didn't suffer!

Pigeons live up to 15-20 years. After what the pigeons did for us in the World Wars I am surprised that few people seem to like them.

I can't understand people not liking them. They seem like really friendly birds--even the wild ones!
