Wow! What a wonderful story! I have read about others, GI Joe & one named Toby, but not about Cher Ami. What an awesome pigeon!

Here is the link to the story of
Cher Ami (Dear Friend)

That story is sooo cool/sad!!!

It sounds like some stories I've read about dogs in the World Wars. Smile

Three cheers for Cher Ami!!!

Cher Ami

I also read the same dear friend story featuring Cher Ami. I wonder if she used the wooden leg the soldiers brought for her? How long to pigeons usually live? It said she died a year later from her wounds, I hope she didn't suffer!

Pigeons live up to 15-20 years. Smile After what the pigeons did for us in the World Wars I am surprised that few people seem to like them. Sad

I can't understand people not liking them. They seem like really friendly birds--even the wild ones!
